The Kijani Kenya Trust is a British registered charity and Kenyan Trust working for HIV/AIDS and Conservation in Kenya.
The Kijani Kenya Trust was initiated in 2004. A small group of friends form the main trustees. They bring wide ranging experience of Kenya and International business and a desire to make a difference in one of the world’s most beautiful developing countries.
The founding objectives are to support Health, HIV/ AIDS and Environmental Conservation and Musical Education in Kenya. Firstly a UK Charitable Trust was registered with the Charities Commission in London and a, not for profit company, was set up in Kenya.
The initial fund raising concept was to bring International music to Kenya to raise money. This has become the famous Kijani International Festival and attracted top performers from around the world as well as combining with well known Kenyan Artists.
The Trustees believe that in order to educate and help to those suffering from HIV / AIDS ongoing care and treatment will be needed for many years. It was decided to concentrate on existing projects which needed funding help but have good management.
