Hell’s Gate National Park

The Park committee has purchased equipment for a project to increase Hell’s Gate water facilities. A water bowser and irrigation equipment.

During 2008 a complete water system for visitors to the park and at the park HQ will be built with donations from the 2005 and 2007 Festival. Amount raised for this project is Kshs 1,890,000 /- £14,550.

Fort Jesus Museum

Fort Jesus has a programme of restoration which the Festival is sponsoring.

Work has commenced on the original drainage system and there will also be an upgrading of the museums exhibits.

Donations to date from Kijani Kenya Trust amount to 845,000 KSHS. (£6,500.00)

Human Ecology Centre, Naro Maru

The Kijani Kenya Trust has initiated and assisted with several conservation projects and is currently fund raising for the Human Ecology Centre to set up a centre for Alternative technology, Renewable Energy and water conservation.

The centre will demonstrate a variety of systems for households and small farms, particularly geared to communities in the Mt. Kenya area and specifically for conservation agriculture related to nutrition for HIVAIDS sufferers. This is being run from the centre in conjunction with CARI for 6 womens groups reaching over 800 persons.
