Our achievements
Kijani achievements since inception in 2004 to date have been to assist and identify projects that raise the standard of living for those in the community. These projects concentrate on HIV AIDS and Environmental Conservation.
In order to achieve the requisite funding Kijani uses one of two methods:
- Holding the annual Kijani Kenya International Music Festival
- Seeking specific funds from individual or corporate donors or international charitable organizations.
For the Festival, Kijani approaches high profile companies for sponsorship to cover the Festival, once all costs are met the total ticket revenue can be devoted to Kijani’s HIV and Environmental Conservation projects.
Due to the excellent quality of the festival and first class performers, it has attracted a very affluent broad spectrum audience as well as key industry decision makers who entertain their clients at these events. Sponsors, such as Safaricom, CFC and Stanbic Banks, GM Motors, Capital FM, AAR, Severin Sealodge and Holiday Inn, all well known Kenyan companies, have supported the Festival every year.
Over the last four festivals, donations, given to Kijani’s projects, have reached 17, 485, 500 Kenya Shillings (£134,500) for HIV / AIDS and Environmental Conservation in Kenya, through ticket sales and the festivals have entertained just under 18,000 people.
In addition many private donors have contributed to Kijani sponsored projects and funds received amount to 13, 850,000 Kenya Shillings (£106, 538 ) thus, Kijani has been able to donate a total of Kshs. 31,340, 000 (£241,076) for the period 2004 to 2007..
